Playground

From classic swings to modern play structures, Community Park fuels imagination.

Little mountain climbers can conquer our 30-foot climbing tower, designed with multiple levels and rope supports for added safety. Then, let their inner jungle explorer come alive on the ziplines.

And when it comes to pirate play, our multi-zoned spray ground is the perfect way to start the day. This area has 3 zones that correspond with age-specific development.

Plus, you can keep an eye on it all from the shade of our covered picnic tables!

Greenway Access

Jefferson City’s Greenway Trail runs through this park and towards the Lincoln University Campus. Make Community Park your starting point or a stop on your journey! This paved trail offers a smooth path for walkers, runners, and cyclists.

Historic Preservation

Community Park is in the Historic Foot District, the cultural heart of Jefferson City’s black community during times of segregation.

To honor and preserve the park’s rich cultural history, multiple sculptures will be placed throughout the park. Informative plaques will adorn each piece of art so visitors may learn about the Foot District. The sculptures are a collaborative effort between JC Parks, Cultural Arts Commission, and the Friends of Lafayette and the Historic Foot District.

Master Plan in Motion

The new Community Park is the first of many major improvement projects outlined in the Parks, Recreation and Forestry Master Plan. Why start here? Our data and research showed this park, and the surrounding community, was in most need of attention.
