What is Plein Air?
En plein air is a French expression meaning “in the open air” and refers to the act of painting outdoors with the artist’s subject in full view. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works. Experience scenic Jefferson City through the canvas!
JC Parks invites you to attend the second annual Jefferson City Plein Air Art Competition. The event will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024, at McClung indoor pavilion and select outdoor Jefferson City locations.
Artists from near and far are invited to Jefferson City to paint scenic locations throughout the community and compete for cash prizes.
Our purpose for the event is to provide the Jefferson City community an art experience like no other. A reception will follow the event where art may be viewed and purchased. Schedule and more details TBA.

Painting will be in the time: 6:00am – 4:00pm
Reception: 6:00pm-8:00pm
