Staff Spotlight: Serving Others with a Smile

Michelle Malone | Supporting Older Adults, One Smile at a Time

If you’ve spent much time at The Linc in the mornings, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Michelle Malone. Whether she’s welcoming members at the front desk or leading our Active Living group, Michelle has a way of making people feel welcome, encouraged and connected. We recently received a heartfelt email from a member of the Twalkers group describing Michelle’s impact. After initially struggling to walk one lap around the track, the member credits Michelle’s encouragement for helping them work up to two miles each visit.

“When I first started walking at the Linc once around the track was the best I could do. Michelle encouraged me not to quit and even suggested that I should ride the stationary bike to build up my stamina. I am proud to say l am up to 2 miles every time I walk. A lot of the credit goes to Michelle… I do not believe the Twalkers would even exist if it wasn’t for Michelle. The time she puts into planning events, coming up with new ideas and adventures for us to explore goes above and beyond… This is our Michelle!! She does this out of love for her job and us!! We were all strangers at one time and we have become a family… Countless members of the Twalkers believe they would not get out of bed every morning to come in and walk, swim, or workout if it was not for Michelle. For some this is their only outing of the day. The friendships we have made are our countless blessings. We often say we don’t know why God brought us together, but we are so glad he did.”

But Michelle’s impact goes well beyond fitness. Through activities, outings and everyday encouragement, she’s helped turn a group of strangers into a close-knit community.

New Staff | Cody Linnell and Joshua Cochran

We’re proud to welcome two new staff members to the JC Parks team! In October, Cody Linnell joined our Landscape and Beautification crew, helping maintain the beautiful, functional green spaces found throughout our parks system. From seasonal landscaping to the everyday details that keep our parks looking their best, this team plays an important role in creating welcoming outdoor spaces for our community.

Joshua Cochran has also rejoined the Parks team as superintendent of Oak Hills Golf Center, where he’ll help oversee daily operations and continue providing a great experience for golfers of all skill levels. We’re excited to have both Cody and Joshua on board and look forward to the contributions they’ll make to JC Parks!
